Marchantia Workshop

2019

September 17-19, 2019

@Tohoku University

We are pleased to announce that Marchantia Workshop 2019 will be held in Sendai, Japan, from September 17th to 19th, 2019, just after the 83th Annual Meeting of Botanical Society of Japan. The Marchantia Workshop was started in 2010 as an opportunity for communications among those who work with or have interest in Marchantia polymorpha. Now M. polymorpha has become a member of model plants with the genome resources and well-developed molecular genetic tools. It is still of mutual benefit to share material, methods, and information in the research community. The workshop in Sendai will be a great opportunity to network with peers.

We will have oral and poster sessions in the first two days (17th-18th). Banquet will be held on Sept 17th.  On Sept 19th, we will have genome annotation jamboree aiming to brush up gene annotation for the upcoming M. polymorpha ver5.1 genome (participation optional), which has been constructed and annotated by the groups of Fred Berger (Gregor Mendel Institute) and Yasukazu Nakamura (National Institute of Genetics).

This workshop is partly co-sponsored by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas (MEXT) "Principles of pluripotent stem cells underlying plant vitality."
